Complete Potty Training

Task: Work on potty training

Potty Training
100%

Keep up your potty training routine. Remember that all of your consistency and patience will pay off!

In Week 3 try slowing increasing the time between potty breaks. Still take your pup to their potty spot every time they wake up and have a meal. If your pup has an accident, make a note of how long from the last time they went potty and when they had the accident. Then make sure that you take them out again after a shorter period of time.

You can also start to slowly increase the size of your pup’s living area. Introduce a larger section each week. If your pup has an accident when a new area is introduced, this may be because they think that the new area is “outside” and fair game. If this happens, reduce the size of their living area. Then after a few days of no accidents, try reintroducing the additional area again.

Still pay attention to any signs that they may have to go potty, and take them out if they show these signs.

By this time, it may be tempting to yell at your pup if they have an accident. Do NOT yell at them. Staying calm and being diligent about potty breaks is the surest path to success.

Within a few weeks, your pup should be more or less potty trained. However, they keep up the frequent potty breaks (every hour or two while awake/out of the crate). If not given enough potty breaks, your pup could start having accidents and develop bad habits.
